Brian Tallet was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the San Diego Padres on April 7, 2012. In exchange the Pirates receive a player to be named later and cash.
LHP Tallet has pitched for nine seasons in the Majors with the Blue Jays, Cardinals and Indians. The Pirates had signed him on February 3, 2012 as a free agent. He split 2011 between the Cardinals and Blue Jays and was 0-1 with a 8.31 ERA, nine strikeouts and 1.92 WHIP in 13.0 innings over 18 games with the Cardinals and was 0-1 with a 54.00 ERA, one strikeout and 12.00 WHIP in 0.1 innings in one game with the Blue Jays. For his career he is 16-25 with a 4.79 ERA, 337 strikeouts and 1.46 WHIP in 460.0 innings over 242 games. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the second round in 2000.
