Miguel Gonzalez traded to Rangers

Miguel Gonzalez was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Texas Rangers on August 31, 2017. The White Sox in exchange received Ti'Quan Forbes.

RHP Gonzalez split 2017 between Double A Birmingham and Triple A Charlotte while rehabbing and with the White Sox. He was 0-0, 10.38 ERA, 5 K, 1.62 WHIP, .350 BAA in 4.1 IP in 1 GS at Birmingham, 0-0, 5.79 ERA, 1 K, 1.50 WHIP, .333 BAA in 4.2 IP in 1 GS at Charlotte and 7-10, 4.31 ERA, 85 K, 1.44 WHIP, .273 BAA in 133.2 IP over 22 GS with the White Sox. Over six MLG seasons with the White Sox and Orioles he was 51-51, 3.88 ERA, 597 K, 1.30 WHIP, .256 BAA in 849.0 IP over 147 games with 140 GS. He originally signed with the Angels in 2004 as a non-drafted free agent. Gonzalez turned 33 on May 27.

Third baseman Forbes had split 2017 between Class A Hickory and Class A Advanced Down East. He hit 73 for 302, .242/.284/.368 with 8 HR, 34 RBI, 36 R, 3 SB in 80 games at Hickory and 42 for 185, .227/.280/.308 with 3 HR, 11 RBI, 20 R, 2 SB in 51 games at Down East. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the second round in 2014. Forbes turned 21 on August 26.
