Justin Verlander traded to Astros

Justin Verlander was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Houston Astros on August 31, 2017 along with cash and a PTBNL. The Tigers in exchange received Daz Cameron, Franklin Perez and Jake Rogers.

RHP Verlander was 10-8, 3.82 ERA, 176 K, 1.28 WHIP, .234 BAA in 172.0 IP over 28 GS with the Tigers in 2017. Over 13 MLB seasons with the Tigers he was 183-114, 3.49 ERA, 2373 K, 1.19 WHIP, .236 BAA in 2511.0 IP over 380 GS. He was originally drafted by the Tigers with the second pick of the first round in 2004Verlander turned 34 on February 20.

Outfielder Cameron hit 121 for 446, .271/.349/.466 with 14 HR, 73 RBI, 79 R, 32 SB in 120 games at Class A Quad Cities in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Astros with the 37th pick of the first round in 2015. Cameron turned 20 on January 15.

RHP Perez had split 2017 between Class A Advanced Buies Creek and Double A Corpus Christi. He was 4-2, 2.98 ERA, 53 K, 0.99 WHIP, .191 BAA, 2 SV in 54.1 IP over 12 games with 10 GS at Buies Creek and 2-1, 3.09 ERA, 25 K, 1.38 WHIP, .266 BAA, 1 SV in 32.0 IP over 7 games with 6 GS at Corpus Christi. He originally signed with the Astros in 2014 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Perez turned 19 on December 6th. 

Catcher Rogers had split 2017 between Quad Cities and Buies Creek. He hit 26 for 102, .255/.336/.520 with 6 HR, 15 RBI, 17 R, 1 SB in 27 games at Quad Cities and 83 for 313, .265/.357/.457 with 12 HR, 55 RBI, 43 R, 13 SB in 83 games at Buies Creek. His minor league caught stealing rate is 40%. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the third round in 2016. Rogers turned 22 on April 18.
