Brandon Phillips traded to Angels

Brandon Phillips was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Los Angeles Angels on August 31, 2017 along with cash. The Braves in exchange received Tony Sanchez.

2B\3B Phillips hit 137 for 470, .291/.329/.423 with 11 HR, 52 RBI, 68 R, 10 SB in 120 games with the Braves in 2017, Over 16 MLB seasons with the Braves, Reds and Indians he hit .276/.320/.421 with 208 HR, 941 RBI, 988 R, 208 SB in 1869 games. He was originally drafted by the Expos in the second round in 1999. Phillips turned 36 on June 28.

Catcher Sanchez hit 66 for 243, .272/.355/.374 with 4 HR, 40 RBI, 33 R, 1 SB in 70 games at Triple A Salt Lake in 2017. Over three MLB seasons with the Pirates he hit .259/.303/378 with 4 HR, 18 RBI, 14 R, 0 SB in 51 games. His minor league caught stealing rate is 23% and his MLB rate is 17%. He was originally drafted by the Pirates with the fourth pick of the first round in 2009. Sanchez turned 29 on May 20.
