Justin Upton traded to Angels

Justin Upton was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Los Angeles Angels on August 31, 2017 along with cash. The Tigers in exchange received Grayson Long and a PTBNL or cash. 

Outfielder Upton hit 130 for 464, .279/.362/.542 with 28 HR, 94 RBI, 81 R, 10 SB in 125 games with the Tigers in 2017. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Angels, Tigers, Padres, Braves and Diamondbacks he has hit .269/.348/.478 with 249 HR, 797 RBI, 858 R, 134 SB in 1463 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the first over all pick of the first round in 2005. Upton turned 30 on August 25.

RHP Long had split 2017 between Class A Advanced Inland Empire and Double A Mobile. He was 0-2, 4.50 ERA, 14 K, 1.50 WHIP, .286 BAA in 12.0 IP over 3 GS at Inland Empire and 8-6, 2.52 ERA, 111 K, 1.13 WHIP, .226 BAA in 121.2 IP over 23 GS at Mobile. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round in 2015. Long turned 23 on May 27.
