JA Happ traded to Pirates

J.A Happ was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 31, 2015. The Mariners in exchange received Adrian Sampson.

LHP Happ was 4-6, 4.64 ERA, 82 K, 1.41 WHIP, .279 BAA in 108.2 IP over 21 games with the Mariners in 2015. Over nine MLB seasons with the Mariners, Blue Jays, Astros and Phillies he was 55-59, 4.29 ERA, 790 K, 1.39 WHIP, .257 BAA in 949.1 IP over 185 games with 160 GS. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the third round in 2004. Happ will be 33 on October 19.

RHP Sampson pitched at Triple A Indianapolis where he was 8-8, 3.98 ERA, 95 K, 1.34 WHIP, .278 BAA in 124.1 IP over 21 games in 2015. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fifth round in 2012. Sampson will be 24 on October 7th.
