Dan Haren was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Chicago Cubs on July 31, 2015 along with cash. The Marlins in exchange received Ivan Pineyro and Elliot Soto.
RHP Haren was 7-7, 3.42 ERA, 88 K, 1.09 WHIP, .241 BAA in 129.0 IP over 21 games with the Marlins in 2015. Over 13 MLB seasons with the Marlins, Dodgers, Nationals, Angels, Diamondbacks, Athltics and Cardinals he was 149-129, 3.75 ERA, 1969 K, 1.18 WHIP, .253 BAA, 1 SV in 2361.1 IP over 380 games with 369 GS. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the second round in 2001. Haren will be 35 on September 17.
RHP Pineyro pitched at Double A Tennessee where he was 7-5, 3.69 ERA, 92 K, 1.25 WHIP, .254 BAA in 107.1 IP over 19 games in 2015. He originally signed with the Nationals in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Rebublic and was traded to the Cubs in 2013. Pineyro will be 24 on September 29.
Soto is a shortstop who played at Tennessee where he hit .275/.388/.314 with 0 HR, 18 RBI, 47 R, 5 SB in 88 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round in 2010. Soto will be 26 on August 21.
