Severino Gonzalez was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Miami Marlins on January 24, 2017 for a PTBNL. The RHP split 2016 between Double A Reading, Triple A Lehigh Valley and the Phillies. He was 2-0, 1.69 ERA, 9 K, 1.03 WHIP, .220 BAA in 10.2 IP over 6 games at Reading, 0-1, 3.31 ERA, 26 K, 1.22 WHIP, .262 BAA in 35.1 IP over 15 games with 1 GS at Lehigh Valley and 1-2, 5.60 ERA, 34 K, 1.33 WHIP, .286 BAA in 35.1 IP over 27 games with the Phillies. Over two MLB seasons with the Phillies he was 4-5, 6.68 ERA, 62 K, 1.48 WHIP, .315 BAA in 66.0 IP over 34 games with 7 GS. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Panama. He turned 24 on September 28.
