Dillon Overton was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Seattle Mariners on January 26, 2017. The Athletics in exchange received Jason Goldstein.
LHP Overton split 2016 between Triple A Nashville and the Athletics. He was 13-5, 3.29 ERA, 105 K, 1.30 WHIP, .268 BAA in 125.2 IP over 21 games with 20 GS at Nashville and 1-3, 11.47 ERA, 17 K, 2.26 WHIP, .407 BAA in 24.1 IP over 7 games with 5 GS with the Athletics. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the second round in 2013. Overton will be 26 on August 17.
Goldstein is a catcher who split 2016 between Rookie Arizona and Short Season A Everett. He hit 4 for 10, .400/.400/.400 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 E, 0 SB in 5 games at Arizona and 13 for 51, .255/.316/.294 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R, 1 SB in 14 games at Everett. His caught stealing rate was 50%. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the ninth round in 2016. Goldstein will be 23 on March 9th.
