Sam Dyson traded to Rangers

Sam Dyson was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Texas Rangers on July 31, 2015. The Marlins in exchange received Tomas Telis and Cody Ege.

RHP Dyson was 3-3, 3.68 ERA, 41 K, 1.32 WHIP, .247 BAA in 44.0 IP over 44 games with the Marlins in 2015. Over four MLB seasons with the Marlins and Blue Jays he was 6-6, 3.87 ERA, 80 K, 1.44 WHIP, .269 BAA in 97.2 IP over 82 games with 1 GS. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fourth round in 2012. Dyson turned 27 on May 7th.

Telis is a catcher who had split 2015 between Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He hit .291/.327/.404 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, 43 R, 1 SB in 70 games at Round Rock and .182/.250/.182 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games with the Rangers. Over two MLB seasons with the Rangers he has hit .241/.268/.266 with 0 HR, 10 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB in 24 games. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Telis turned 24 on June 18.

LHP Ege had split 2015 between Class A Advanced High Desert and Double A Frisco. He was 3-0, 1.35 ERA, 25 K, 0.75 WHIP, .149 BAA, 1 SV in 13.1 IP over 9 games at High Desert and 3-2, 0.85 ERA, 37 K, 1.42 WHIP, .228 BAA, 1 SV in 31.2 IP over 26 games at Frisco. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 15th round in 2013. Ege turned 24 on May 8th.
