Chasing 50-50 060514

This is the third year of my Chasing 50-50 segment. It started two seasons ago as we followed Matt Kemp of the Dodgers in his self proclaimed attempt to hit 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases. The 2014 season is under way and we are going to follow Kemp's efforts to see if he can make another run. As long as he is playing Kemp will always be part of this. I'm also keeping Mike Trout of the Angels and Carlos Gonzalez of the Rockies in the mix because I think they also have the speed\power combo capable of reaching the mark some day. Others will be added throughout the season as their production warrants. As of  May 1st I am adding Gonzalez's Rockies teammate Charlie Blackmon, Brewers teammates Carlos Gomez and Ryan Braun and Brian Dozier of the Twins. This is week nine of the chase.

Matt Kemp

Kemp was back in the lineup and hit 4 for 24 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 6 games. For the season he is hitting .238/.291/.398 with 5 HR, 15 RBI, 24 R, 5 SB in 51 games

Mike Trout

Trout is dealing with a back injury as this week he hit 2 for 9 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 3 games. For the season he is hitting .293/.379/.546 with 11 HR, 38 RBI, 34 R, 5 SB in 54 games

Carlos Gonzalez

Gonzalez was dealing with a calf injury and went of the DL with a finger injury as he hit 2 for 13 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 4 games. For the season he is hitting .255/.307/.449 with 8 HR, 31 RBI, 27 R, 2 SB in 52 games.

Charlie Blackmon

Blackmon continues to cool off but added to the big categories as he hit 5 for 21 with 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 R, 1 SB in 6 games. For the season he is hitting .310/.351/.505 with 10 HR, 38 RBI, 37 R, 10 SB in 57 games.

Carlos Gomez

Gomez fell off a cliff after last week as he hit 4 for 25 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB in 7 games. For the season he is hitting .308/.382/.556 with 11 HR, 32 RBI, 38 R, 11 SB in 54 games.
