This is the ninth segment of 2014 as I continue to follow Bubba Starling and Fred Ford as they make their way up the minor league ranks of the Kansas City Royals. Starling starts off 2014 at Class A Advanced Wilmington as the Red Rocks are 29-32. Ford is repeating time at Class A Lexington as the Legends are 26-36.
Bubba continues to struggle as he was 4 for 28 with a double, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 7 games. The home run was a Grand slam on Friday against rehabbing MLB pitcher Gio Gonzalez of the Nationals. He had briefly kissed .200 during his 15 game hitting streak but is now hitting .187/.287/.297 with 3 HR, 27 RBI, 30 R, 9 SB in 58 games.
Fred had a couple multi hit games as he was 6 for 26 with two doubles, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 3 SB in 7 games. For the season he is now hitting .219/.321/.385 with 6 HR, 31 RBI, 28 R, 7 SB in 56 games.
