Seth Smith traded to Athletics

Seth Smith was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the Oakland Athletics on January 16, 2012. In exchange the Rockies receive Guillermo Moscoso and Josh Outman.


Smith is an outfielder who played four seasons plus a 2007 cup of coffee with the Rockies. In 2011 he hit .284/.347/.483 with 15 home runs, 59 RBI, 67 runs and 10 steals in 147 games. For his career he has hit .275/.348/.485 with 51 home runs, 181 RBI, 200 runs and 17 steals in 487 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2004.


RHP Moscoso has pitched three seasons with the Athletics and Rangers. He split 2011 between Triple A and the Athletics. He was 3-3 with a 3.88 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 1.23 WHIP in 46.1 innings over nine games at Triple A and was 8-10 with a 3.38 ERA, 74 strikeouts and 1.09 WHIP in 128 innings over 23 games with the Athletics. For his career he is 8-10 with a 3.47 ERA, 88 strikeouts and 1.16 WHIP in 142.2 innings over 34 games. He originally signed with the Tigers as an amateur free agent in 2003 out of Venezuela.


LHP Outman pitched three seasons with the Athletics. He split 2011 between Triple A and the Athletics. He was 8-3 with a 3.91 ERA, 72 strikeouts and 1.58 WHIP in 78.1 innings over 17 games at Triple A and was 3-5 with a 3.70 ERA, 35 strikeouts and 1.46 WHIP in 58.1 innings over 13 games with the Athletics, For his career he is 8-8 with a 3.75 ERA, 107 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP in 151.1 innings over 33 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 10th round in 2005.
