Scott Feldman traded to Orioles

Scott Feldman was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Baltimore Orioles on July 2, 2013 along with Steve Clevenger. In exchange the Cubs received Jake Arrieta, Pedro Strop and two international signing bonus slots. 

RHP Feldman has nine seasons MLB experience pitching with the Cubs and Rangers. This season he is 7-6, 3.46 ERA, 67 K, 1.14 WHIP in 91.0 IP over 15 games. For his MLB career he is 46-50, 4.66 ERA, 500 K, 1.39 WHIP in 818.2 IP over 116 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 30th round in 2003. Deldman turned 30 on February 7th.

Clevenger is a catcher with three seasons on mimimal MLB experience playing with the Cubs. He split 2013 between Triple A Iowa and the Cubs. He has hit .327/.426/.596 with 3 HR, 11 RBI, 14 R, 0 SB in 15 games at Iowa and hit .125/.222/.125 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 8 games with the Cubs. For his MLB career he has hit .199/.262/.275 with 1 HR, 16 RBI, 18 R, 0 SB in 79 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the seventh round in 2006. Clevenger turned 27 on April 5th.

RHP Arrieta has four seasons MLB experience pitching all with the Orioles. He split 2013 between Triple A Norfolk and the Orioles. He was 5-3, 4.41 ERA, 38 K, 1.20 WHIP in 49.0 IP over 9 games at Norfolk and was 1-2, 7.23 ERA, 23 K, 1.77 WHIP in 23.2 IP over 5 games with the Orioles. For his MLB career he is 20-25, 5.46 ERA, 277 K, 1.47 WHIP in 358.0 IP over 69 games. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the fifth round in 2007. Arrieta turned 27 on March 6th.

RHP Strop has five seasons MLB experience pitching with the Orioles and Rangers. This season he is 0-3, 7.25 ERA, 24 K, 1.70 WHIP in 22.1 IP over 29 games. For his MLB career he is 7-6, 4.14 ERA, 123 K, 1.48 WHIP, 3 SV in 128.1 IP over 144 games. He originally signed with the Rockies as an amateur free agent in 2002 out of the Dominican Republic. Strop turned 28 on June 13.
