The rosters have been revealed for the 2013 Futures Game to be played on July 14 at Mets' Citi Field in New York, NY. Every Major League team has at least one player on either the US or World roster and some teams have more than one. In this post I'll be going over the catchers on the US team.
Austin Hedges is a right-handed catcher with Class A Advance Lake Elsinore of the San Diego Padres. This season he has hit .267/.351/.430 with 3 HR, 21 RBI, 26 R, 2 SB in 47 games. He has thrown out 38% of those that have attempted to steal. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the second round in 2011. Hedges will be 21 on August 18. He was born in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
Josh Phegley is is a right-handed catcher with Triple A Charlotte of the Chicago White Sox. This season he has hit .316/.368/597 with 15 HR, 41 RBI, 39 R, 1 SB in 61 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox with the 38th pick of the first round in 2009. Phegley turned 25 on February 12. He was born in Terre Haute, IN.
