Eddie Butler traded to Cubs

Eddie Butler was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the Chicago Cubs on February 1, 2017. The Rockies in exchange received James Farris. 

RHP Butler split 2016 between Triple A Albuquerque and the Rockies. He was 8-3, 4.45 ERA, 35 K, 1.34 WHIP, .267 BAA in 89.0 IP over 15 GS at Albuquerque and 2-5, 7.17 ERA, 47 K, 1.69 WHIP, .328 BAA in 64.0 IP over 17 games with 9 GS with the Rockies. Over four MLB seasons with the Rockies he was 6-16, 6.50 ERA, 94 K, 1.77 WHIP, .327 BAA in 159.1 IP over 36 games with 28 GS. He was originally drafted by the Rockies with the 46th pick of the first round in 2012. Butler will be 26 on March 13.

RHP Farris split 2016 between Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach and Double A Tennessee. He was 1-2, 2.40 ERA, 36 K, 0.93 WHIP, .198 BAA, 8 SV in 30.0 IP over 17 games at Myrtle Beach and 1-3, 2.75 ERA, 38 K, 1.03 WHIP, .209 BAA, 5 SV in 36.0 IP over 26 games at Tennessee. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the ninth round in 2014. Farris will be 25 on April 4th.
