Alec Mills traded to Cubs

Alec Mills was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Chicago Cubs on February 8, 2017. The Royals in exchange received Donald Dewees Jr.

RHP Mills split 2016 between Double A Northwest Arkansas, Triple A Omaha and the Royals. He was 1-2, 2.39 ERA, 68 K, 1.02 WHIP, .234 BAA in 67.2 IP over 12 GS at Northwest Arkansas, 4-3, 4.19 ERA, 54 K, 1.40 WHIP, .272 BAA in 58.0 IP over 12 games with 11 GS at Omaha and 0-0, 13.50 ERA, 4 K, 2.40 WHIP, .231 BAA in 3.1 IP over 3 games with the Royals. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the 22nd round in 2012. Mills turned 25 on November 30.

Dewees is an outfielder who split 2016 between Class A South Bend and Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach. He hit .282/.337/.414 with 3 HR, 54 RBI, 65 R, 17 SB in 94 games at Sound Bend and .289/.339/.423 with 2 HR, 19 RBI, 25 R, 14 SB in 35 games at Myrtle Beach. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the second round in 2015. Dewees will be 24 on September 29.
