Bartolo Colon of the New York Mets and Ben Zobrist of the Chicago Cubs were selected the National League Co-Players of the Week for the span of May 2, 2016 through May 8, 2016.
For the week Colon was 2-0, 1.84 ERA, 2 GS, 14.2 IP, 13 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 1 BB, 12 K and .241 BAA. He was also given props for being the oldest player in MLB history to hit their first career home run. This season the RHP is 3-1, 2.82 ERA, 33 K, 1.12 WHIP, .271 BAA in 38.1 IP over 7 games. Over 19 MLB seasons with the Mets, Athletics, Yankees, White Sox, Red Sox, Angels, Expos and Indians he is 221-155, 3.95 ERA, 2270 K, 1.30 WHIP, .264 BAA in 3019.0 IP over 482 games. He originally signed with the Indians in 1993 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Colon will be 43 on May 24.
For the week Zobrist hit 9 for 25, .360/.455/.880 with 1 2B, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB and 5 BB. This season the second baseman has hit .277/.406/.475 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, 21 R, 1 SB in 28 games. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Cubs, Royals, Athletics and Rays he has hit .266/.356/.432 with 132 HR, 592 RBI, 662 R, 106 SB in 1218 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the sixth round in 2004. Harper will be 35 on May 26.
