Here is my fifth installment of College Spotlight for 2015. This week I am looking at Buddy Putnam of South Florida and Carson Fulmer of Vanderbilt
Putnam is a senior first baseman out of Bartow High School in Bartow, FL. Last week in a four game span starting with Florida Gulf Coast last Tuesday and a three game series with Cincinnati he was 7 for 16 with 2 doubles, 4 home runs, 10 RBI and 8 runs. For the season he is hitting .254/.333/.606 with 6 HR, 20 RBI, 16 R, 0 SB in 26 games. Last season he hit .248/.280/.349 with 2 HR, 22 RBI, 18 R, 0 SB in 47 games. The Bulls are 20-8-1 this season.
RHP Fulmer is a junior out of All Saints' Academy in Lakeland, FL. On Friday he dominated Tennessee as he struck out a career high 12 in a 9-0 victory. His line for the game was 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 12 K in 112 pitches. This season he is 4-1, 1.50 ERA, 60 K, 1.17 WHIP, .189 BAA in 42.0 IP over 7 games. Last season he was 7-1, 1.98 ERA, 95 K, 1.12 WHIP, .195 BAA, 10 SV in 91.0 IP over 26 games. The Commodores are 22-6 this season.
