Here is my third installment of College Spotlight for 2015. This week I am looking at Ryan Howell of Nevada and Mike Compton of Florida State.
Howell is a juniot 2B\OF out of Heritage High School in Brentwood, CA. This season he has had multi hit games in 10 of 15 as he is one of the national leaders in home runs, RBI and total bases. He is hitting .434/.549/.925 with 6 HR, 23 RBI, 15 R, 1 SB in 15 games. Last season he played at JUCO Chabot College where he hit .292/.464/.571 with 8 HR, 42 RBI, 47 R, 5 SB in 42 games. The Wolfpack are 13-2 this season.
RHP Compton is a junior out of Branson High School in Branson, MO. Last Friday he pitched a complete game 7-0 shut out over Boston College. His line for the game was 9.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K in 113 pitches. This season he is 1-0, 1.19 ERA, 24 K, 0.93 WHIP, .200 BAA in 22.2 IP over 4 games. Last season as a sophomore he was 7-3, 3.23 ERA, 50 K, 1.34 WHIP, .282 BAA in 83.2 IP over 15 games. The Seminoles are 13-3 this season.
