Roy Oswalt retires
Roy Oswalt announced his retirement from playing baseball in February 2014. Oswalt was a RHP with 13 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Astros (2001-2010), Phillies (2010-2011), Rangers (2012) and Rockies (2013). He split 2013 between Rookie Grand Junction, Double A Tulsa and the Rockies. He was 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K, 0.71 WHIP in 5.2 IP in 1 game at Grand Junction, was 3-2, 2.16 ERA, 25 K, 0.93 WHIP in 33.1 IP over 5 games at Tulsa and was 0-6, 8.63 ERA, 34 K, 1.79 WHIP in 32.1 IP over 9 games with the Rockies. For his MLB career he was 163-102, 3.36 ERA, 1852 K, 1.21 WHIP in 2245.1 IP over 365 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the 23rd round in 1996. Oswalt was 36 at the time of his retirement.
