Robinson Chirinos traded to Rangers
Robinson Chirinos was traded by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Texas Rangers on April 8, 2013 for a player to be named later or cash. The catcher missed the 2012 season after a head injury and resulting concussion in spring training. He had split 2011 between Triple A Durham and the Rays. He had hit .259/.343/.376 with 6 HR, 24 RBI, 24 R, 1 SB in 78 games at Durham and hit .218/.283/.309 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 20 games with the Rays. He originally signed with the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2000 out of Venezuela. Chirinos will be 29 on June 5th.
