Ben Gamel traded to Mariners

Ben Gamel was traded by the New York Yankees to the Seattle Mariners on August 31, 2016. The Yankees in exchange received Jio Orozco and Juan De Paula.

Gamel is an outfielder who had split 2016 between Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Yankees. He hit .308/.365/.420 with 6 HR, 51 RBI, 80 R, 19 SB in 116 games at SWB and 1 for 8, .125/.222/.125 with 0 HR, 0 RBi, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games with the Yankees. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the 10th round in 2010. Gamel turned 24 on May 17.

RHP Orozco was 2-2, 4.07 ERA, 63 K, 1.27 WHIP, .236 BAA in 48.2 IP over 12 games with 5 GS at Rookie Arizona in 2016.He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 14th round in 2015. Orozco turned 19 on August 15.

RHP De Paula was 1-2, 3.07 ERA, 53 K, 1.27 WHIP, .253 BAA in 41.0 IP over 11 games with 7 GS at Rookie Arizona in 2016. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2014 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. De Paula will be 19 on September 22.
