Will Venable traded to Rangers

Will Venable was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Texas Rangers on August 18, 2015. The Padres in exchange received Marcus Greene Jr and a PTBNL. 

Venable is an outfielder who hit .258/.318/.378 with 6 HR, 30 RBI, 34 R, 11 SB in 98 games with the Padres in 2015. Over eight MLB seasons with the Rangers and Padres he hit .252/.316/.410 with 81 HR, 305 RBI, 370 R, 130 SB in 920 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the seventh round in 2005. Venable will be 33 on October 29.

Greene is a catcher who played at Class A Hickory where he hit .218/.365/.500 with 5 HR, 9 RBI, 17 R, 2 SB in 25 games. His minor league caught stealing rate is 24%. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 16th round in 2013. Greene turned 21 on August 19.
