Logan Forsythe Traded to Rays in Seven Player Deal

Logan Forsythe was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Tampa Bay Rays on January 22, 2014 along with Maxx Tissenbaum, Matt Andriese, Brad Boxberger and Matt Lollis. In exchange the Padres received Alex Torres and Jesse Hahn.

Forsythe is a versatile 2B\3B\SS\OF with three seasons MLB experience with the Padres. He split 2013 between Triple A Tucson and the Padres. He hit .360/.515/.840 with 2 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB in 8 games at Tucson and hit .214/.281/.332 with 6 HR, 19 RBI, 22 R, 6 SB in 75 games with the Padres. For his MLB career he has hit .241/.310/.349 with 12 HR, 57 RBI, 79 R, 17 SB in 228 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres with the 46th pick of the first round in 2008. Forsythe will be 28 on January 14.

Tissenbaum is a 2B\SS who played in 2013 at Class A Fort Wayne. He hit .277/.365/.359 with 2 HR, 49 RBI, 48 R, 4 SB in 111 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 11th round in 2012. Tissenbaum will be 23 on July 25.

RHP Andriese split 2013 between Double A San Antonio and Triple A Tucson. He was 8-2, 2.37 ERA, 63 K, 1.16 WHIP in 76.0 IP over 15 games at San Antonio and was 3-5, 4.45 ERA, 42 K, 1.30 WHIP in 58.2 IP over 12 games at Tucson. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the third round in 2011. Andriese will be 25 on August 28.

RHP Boxberger has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Padres. He split 2013 between Triple A Tucson and the Padres. He was 2-4, 3.61 ERA, 89 K, 1.20 WHIP, 5 SV in 57.1 IP over 42 games with the Tucson and was 0-1, 2.86 ERA, 24 K, 1.46 WHIP, 1 SV in 22.0 IP over 18 games with the Padres. For his MLB career he is 0-1, 2.72 ERA, 57 K, 1.45 WHIP, 1 SV in 49.2 IP over 42 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 43rd pick of the first round in 2009. He was traded to the Padres in 2011. Boxberger will be 26 on May 27.

RHP Lollis split 2013 between Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore, Double A San Antonio and Triple A Tucson. He was 2-4, 2.32 ERA, 31 K, 1.26 WHIP in 31.0 IP over 23 games at Lake Elsinore, was 1-3, 6.28 ERA, 27 K, 1.94 WHIP in 38.2 IP over 32 games at San Antonio and was 0-1, 6.23 ERA, 5 K, 2.54 WHIP in 4.1 IP over 3 games at Tucson. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the 15th round in 2009. Lollis turned 23 on September 11.

LHP Torres has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Rays. He split 2013 between Triple A Durham and the Rays. He was 2-2, 3.52 ERA, 61 K, 1.20 WHIP in 46.0 IP over 9 games at Durham and was 4-2, 1.71 ERA, 62 K, 0.90 WHIP in 58.0 IP over 39 games with the Rays. For his MLB career he is 5-3, 1.91 ERA, 71 K, 1.02 WHIP in 66.0 IP over 43 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Torres turned 26 on December 8th.

RHP Hahn split 2013 between Rookie Gulf Coast and Class A Advanced Charlotte. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 K, 2.00 WHIP in 2.0 IP in 1 game at Gulf Coast and was 2-1, 2.15 ERA, 63 K, 1.09 WHIP in 67.0 IP over 19 games at Charlotte. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the sixth round in 2010. Hahn will be 25 on July 30.
