Scooter Gennett of the Cincinnati Reds was an offensive juggernaut in a 13-1 rout of the St Louis Cardinals on June 6, 2017. He was 5 for 5 with 4 HR, 10 RBI and 4 R while batting fifth and playing left field. Home cooking agreed with him. The fireworks show started with a grand slam in the third inning, followed by a 2-run blast in the fourth, a solo shot in the sixth and another 2-run home run in the eighth. He became the 17th player in MLB history to hit 4 home runs in a game and the first in team franchise history. His 10 RBI tied the team record while his 17 total bases set a new bar for the Reds.
This season he is hitting 35 for 116, .302/.336/.578 with 7 HR, 30 RBI, 18 R, 0 SB in 47 games. Over five MLB seasons with the Reds and Brewers he has hit .281/.319/.431 with 42 HR, 190 RBI, 202 R, 17 SB in 503 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 16th round in 2009 and claimed off waivers by the Reds in March 2017. Gennett turned 27 on May 1st.
