Adeiny Hechavarria traded to Rays

Adeiny Hechavarria was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Tampa Bay Rays on June 26, 2017. The Marlins in exchange received Braxton Lee and Ethan Clark.

Hechavarria is a shortstop who hit 18 for 65, .277/.288/.385 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB in 20 games with the Marlins in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the Marlins and Blue Jays he hit .255/.291/.337 with 15 HR, 185 RBI, 207 R, 26 SB in 640 games. He originally signed with the Blue Jays in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba. Hechavarria turned 28 on April 15.

Lee is an outfielder who hit 84 for 262, .321/.391/.401 with 2 HR, 16 RBI, 47 R, 12 SB in 67 games at Double A Montgomery in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the 12th round in 2014. Lee will be 24 on August 23.

RHP Clark was 3-2, 3.11 ERA, 50 K, 1.00 WHIP, .196 BAA in 55.0 IP over 12 games with 9 GS at Class A Bowling Green in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the 15th round in 2015. Clark turned 22 on October 26.
