Chris Archer MLB Record

Chris Archer of the Tampa Bay Rays set a modern MLB record by recording double digit strikeouts without a walk for three straight games. He started the stretch on May 27 in a no decision which the Rays lost 3-0 to the Seattle Mariners and his line was 8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB and 12 K in 95 pitches. On June 2 he picked up the win in a 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels and his line was 8.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB and 15 K in 105 pitches. The record was reached on June 7 as he came full circle against the Mariners picking up the win in a 3-1 game while his line was 7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB and 11 K in 113 pitches. This season the RHP is 7-4, 1.84 ERA, 108 K, 0.95 WHIP, .196 BAA in 83.0 IP over 13 games. Over four MLB seasons with the Rays he is 27-23, 3.10 ERA, 418 K, 1.17 WHIP, .227 BAA in 435.2 IP over 74 games. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the fifth round in 2006, traded to the Cubs in 2008 and traded to the Rays in 2011. Archer will be 27 on September 26.
