Geovany Soto traded to Athletics
Geovany Soto was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Oakland Athletics on August 24, 2014 in exchange for cash. Prior to the trade the catcher split 2014 between Double A Frisco, Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers as he hit .368/.455/.474 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 6 games at Frisco, .188/.212/.344 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 10 games at Round Rock and .237/.237/.368 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 10 games with the Rangers. After the trade he hit .262/.354/.357 with 0 HR, 8 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 14 games with the Athletics. Over his 10 season MLB career with the Athletics, Rangers and Cubs he has hit .248..334/.436 with 92 HR, 322 RBI, 272 R, 3 SB in 680 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 11th round in 2001. Soto turned 32 on Janaury 20.
