Alejandro De Aza traded to Red Sox

Alejandro De Aza was traded by the Baltimore Orioles to the Boston Red Sox on June 3, 2015 along with cash. The Orioles in exchange received Joe Gunkel. 

De Aza is an outfielder who had hit .214/.277/.359 with 3 HR, 7 RBI, 16 R, 2 SB in 30 games with the Orioles in 2015. Over eight MLB seasons with the Red Sox, Orioles, White Sox and Marlins he has hit .266/.328/.400 with 41 HR, 196 RBI, 293 R, 81 SB in 597 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 2001 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. De Aza turned 31 on April 11.

RHP had split 2015 between Class A Advanced Salem and Double A Portland. He was 1-1, 2.05 ERA, 22 K, 0.91 WHIP, .203 BAA, 2 SV in 22.0 IP over 8 games with 2 GS at Salem and 2-1, 3.93 ERA, 22 K, 1.86 WHIP, .347 BAA in 18.1 IP over 4 games with 3 GS at Portland. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 18th round in 2013. Gunkel turned 23 on December 30.
