Royals await Wild Card Winner

The Kansas City Royals await the outcome of the American League Wild Card game between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees. The Royals fared the same against both teams in 2015 with a 2-4 record. The home record was 2-1 against both while they Royals were swept going 0-3 at both opposing team fields. That would point to another positive for the Royals gaining home field advantage in the playoffs.

Francisco Lindor September 2015 AL Rookie of the Month

Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians was selected the American League Rookie of the Month for September 2015. During the month the shortstop hit 38 for 105, .362/.395/.657 with 8 2B, 4 3B, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 17 R, 5 SB and 7 BB in 27 games. He split 2015 between Triple A Columbus and the Indians as he hit .284/.350/.402 with 2 HR, 22 RBI, 26 R, 9 SB in 59 games at Columbus and .313/.353/.482 with 12 HR, 51 RBI, 50 R, 12 SB in 99 games with the Indians. He was originally drafted by the Indians with the eighth pick of the first round in 2011. Lindor will be 22 on November 14.

Justin Bour September 2015 NL Rookie of the Month

Justin Bour of the Miami Marlins was selected the National League Rookie of the Month for September 2015. During the month the first baseman hit 29 for 100, .290/.321/.590 with 3 2B, 9 HR, 25 RBI, 14 R, 0 SB and 5 BB in 26 games. This season he hit .262/.321/.479 with 23 HR, 73 RBI, 42 R, 0 SB in 129 games. Over two MLB seasons with the Marlins he has hit .265/.327/.462 with 24 HR, 84 RBI, 52 R, 0 SB in 168 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 25th round in 2009 and was later drafted by the Marlins in the 2013 rule 5 draft. Bour turned 27 on May 28.

Cody Anderson September 2015 AL Pitcher of the Month

Cody Anderson of the Cleveland Indians was selected the American League Pitcher of the Month for September 2015. During the month the RHP was 5-0, 1.38 ERA, 20 K, 1.10 WHIP, .212 BAA in 39.0 IP over 6 games. He had split 2015 between Double A Akron, Triple A Columbus and the Indians. He was 3-2, 1.73 ERA, 36 K, 1.02 WHIP, .233 BAA in 52.0 Ip over 10 games at Akron, 1-1, 2.33 ERA, 18 K, 1.14 WHIP, .239 BAA in 19.1 IP over 3 games at Columbus as 7-3, 3.05 ERA, 44 K, 1.11 WHIP, .231 BAA in 91.1 IP over 15 games with the Indians. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the 14th round in 2011. Anderson turned 25 on September 14.

Jake Arrieta September 2015 NL Pitcher of the Month

Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs was selected the National League Pitcher of the Month for September 2015. During the month the RHP was 4-0, 0.45 ERA, 39 K, 0.60 WHIP, .148 BAA in 40.0 IP over 5 games.  It was a repeat performance after winning the award in August. This season he is 22-6, 1.77 ERA, 236 K, 0.86 WHIP, .185 BAA in 229.0 IP over 33 games. Over six MLB seasons with the Cubs and Orioles he is 56-38, 3.70 ERA, 717 K, 1.18 WHIP, .226 BAA in 795.1 IP over 136 games with 130 GS. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the fifth round in 2007 and was traded to the Cubs in 2013. Arrieta turned 29 on March 6th.

Shin Soo-Choo September 2015 AL Player of the Month

Shin Soo-Choo of the Texas Rangers was selected the American League Player of the Month for September 2015. During the month he hit 42 for 104, .404/.515/.625 with 6 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 26 R, 1 SB and 21 BB. This season the outfielder hit .276/.375/.463 with 22 HR, 82 RBI, 94 R, 4 SB in 149 games. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Rangers, Reds, Indians and Mariners he has hit .281/.382/.455 with 139 HR, 549 RBI, 649 R, 112 SB in 1125 games. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2000 as an amateur free agent out of South Korea. Choo turned 33 on July 13.

Nolan Arenado September 2015 NL Player of the Month

Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies was selected the National League Player of the Month for September 2015. During the month the outfielder hit 38 for 112, .339/.366/.705 with 8 2B, 11 HR, 32 RBI, 19 R, 1 SB and 7 BB. This season the third baseman is hitting .287/.323/.575 with 42 HR, 130 RBI, 97 R, 2 SB in 157 games. Over three MLB seasons with the Rockies he has hit .281/.318/.500 with 70 HR, 243 RBI, 204 R, 6 SB in 401 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2009. Arenado turned 24 on April 16.

Adrian Beltre AL Player of Week 092815 to 100415

Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers was selected the American League Player of the Week for the span of September 28, 2015 through October 4, 2015. For the week he hit 13 for 29, .448/.484/.793 with 4 2B, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 6 R, 0 SB and 2 BB. This season the third baseman hit .287/.334/.453 with 4 HR, 18 RBI, 83 R, 1 SB in 143 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 1994 as ana amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Beltre turned 36 on April 7th.

He threw a no hitter against the Mets and for the week was 2-0, 0.53 ERA, 2 GS, 17.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 3 BB, 27 K, .038 BAA, 1 CG and 1 SHO.  This season the RHP was 14-12, 2.79 ERA, 276 K, 0.92 WHIP, .208 BAA in 228.2 IP over 33 games. Over eight MLB seasons with the Nationals, Tigers and Diamondbacks he is 105-62, 3.46 ERA, 1597 K, 1.17 WHIP, .237 BAA in 1468.0 IP over 240 games. Scherzer had also been the NL Pitcher of the Month in May and June. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 11th pick of the first round in 2006, traded to the Tigers in 2009 and signed with the Nationals in 2015. Max Scherzer pitches no-hitter vs Mets 100315

Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals pitched a no-hitter in a 2-0 victory against the New York Mets on October 3, 2015. His line for the game was 9.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R. 0 ER, 0 BB, 17 K in 109 pitches. The Mets' Kevin Plawecki reached base on a throwing error in the sixth to keep it from being a perfect game. This season the RHP was 14-12, 2.79 ERA, 276 K, 0.92 WHIP, .208 BAA in 228.2 IP over 33 games. Over eight MLB seasons with the Nationals, Tigers and Diamondbacks he is 105-62, 3.46 ERA, 1597 K, 1.17 WHIP, .237 BAA in 1468.0 IP over 240 games. Scherzer had also thrown a no-hitter earlier in the season on June 20 against the Pirates. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 11th pick of the first round in 2006, traded to the Tigers in 2009 and signed with the Nationals in 2015. Scherzer will be 31 on July 27.
