Max Scherzer pitches no-hitter vs Pirates 062015
Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals pitched a no-hitter in a 6-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 20, 2015. The only blemish was a HBP on Jose Tabata with two outs in the ninth to keep it from being a perfect game. His line for the game was 9.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R. 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K in 106 pitches. That followed his previous performance in which he one hit the Milwaukee Brewers in a 4-0 victory on June 14, 2015. His line for that game was 9.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 16 K in 119 pitches. This season the RHP is 8-5, 1.76 ERA, 123 K, 0.80 WHIP, .181 BAA in 102.1 IP over 14 games. Over eight MLB seasons with the Nationals, Tigers and Diamondbacks he is 99-55, 3.44 ERA, 1444 K, 1.19 WHIP, .237 BAA in 1341.2 IP over 221 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks with the 11th pick of the first round in 2006, traded to the Tigers in 2009 and signed with the Nationals in 2015. Scherzer will be 31 on July 27.
