The reference in the title is the 1962 Mets who are regarded as the worst of the Modern Era for all teams after 1900. The team finished 40-120 and 60.5 games back. For the season the team hit .240/.318/.361 and scored 617 runs which was 3.8 per game. The team ERA was 5.04 and they gave up 948 runs or 5.9 per game.
This was the second year of this series where each week I checked in on the MLB teams with the worst win-loss records and how they measured up to 1962. For the most part the worst of 2014 didn't sink to the depths some of the teams did in 2013. Here is how the final cellar dwellers of 2014 finished.

Finished at 70-92 and were 18.0 games back. The team hit .254/.324/.389 and scored 715 runs or 4.4 per game. Their team ERA was 4.57 and they gave up 777 runs or 4.8 per game.
AL West: Texas Rangers
Finished at 67-95 and were 31.0 games back. The team hit .256/.314/.375 and scored 637 runs or 3.9 per game. Their team ERA was 4.49 and they gave up 773 runs or 4.8 per game.
NL East: Philadelphia Phillies
Finished at 73-89 and were 23.0 games back. The team hit .242/.302/.363 and scored 619 runs or 3.8 per game. Their team ERA was 3.79 and they gave up 687 runs or 4.2 per game.
NL Central: Chicago Cubs
Finished at 73-89 and were 17.0 games back. The team hit .239/.300/.385 and scored 614 runs or 3.8 per game. Their team ERA was 3.91 and they gave up 707 runs or 4.4 per game.
