Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians won the 2014 American League Cy Young Award by the Baseball Writers Association of America. He had 17 first place votes and 169 points total. The only other pitcher receiving first place votes was Felix Hernandez of the Mariners with 13 and 159 points total. Others receiving votes were Chris Sale of the White Sox with 78 points, Jon Lester (Red Sox/Athletics, 46), Max Scherzer, 32), David Price (Rays/Tigers, 16), Phil Hughes (Twins, 6), Wade Davis (Royals, 3) and Greg Holland (Royals, 1).
For the season the RHP was 18-9, 2.44 ERA, 269 K, 1.10 WHIP in 235.2 IP over 34 games. Over his four season MLB career he is 31-19, 3.34 ERA, 464 K, 1.22 WHIP in 450.1 IP over 75 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the fourth round in 2007. He was traded to the Indians in 2010. Kluber turned 28 on April 10.
