Craig Kimbrel of the Atlanta Braves has shown that he is human with three blown saves in his last five opportunities. He was coasting along this season with a perfect eight saves until he hit the wall. Has the fire tossing RHP worn him self out? Is it a mental block? What is the shelf life of a closer?
Kimbrel has had a good career with the Braves through his fourth MLB season. He is 11-5, 1.61 ERA, 304 K, 0.92 WHIP, 99 SV (14 BS) in 173.2 IP over 177 games. He is on the verge of reaching the 100 save milestone. Maybe that number has caused him to lose a little focus and once he reaches it he will be back to normal. It won't take long to find out.
