Matt Adams was traded by the St Louis Cardinals to the Atlanta Braves on May 20, 2017. The Cardinals in exchange received Juan Yepez.
First baseman Adams hit 14 for 48, .292/.340/.396 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 31 games with the Cardinals in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the Cardinals he hit .271/.315/.453 with 56 HR, 217 RBI, 164 R, 4 SB in 486 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 23rd round in 2009. Adams will be 29 on August 31.
First baseman Yepez hit 39 for 142, .275/.309/.387 with 1 HR, 15 RBI, 15 R, 4 SB in 36 games at Class A Rome in 2017. He originally signed with the Braves in 2014 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Yepez turned 19 on February 19.
