Josh Hamilton slow start with Angels

Josh Hamilton of the Los Angeles Angels is off to a slow start after signing with the team in the off season. The Angels have an off day on which Hamilton has time to mull his performance at the pate where he is hitting .208/.255/.296 with 2 HR, 9 RBI, 12 R, 1 SB in 31 games. Slumps are part of the game and Hamilton had one last season after starting 2012 with one of the hottest starts in MLB history. Hamilton is following in the footsteps of Albert Pujols who was the Angels big free agent the previous year. I even mused whether it was actually Albert who started the season.

At this point last season Pujols was just a few games from reaching his rock bottom before turning things around. He spend nine games below the Mendoza line before finding himself with a 3 for 4 performance on May 15 and never looked back. As the Summer heated up so did Pujols as he hit .326 in June, .330 in July and .312 in August. Despite the slow start Pujols still reached 30 home runs and 105 RBI on the season.

Having Pujols in the same dugout has to be a huge aide to Hamilton. Another super star who had the same experience on the same team so recently. Hamilton has had a handful of multi hit games and the next one might be the one that sparks his season. The Angels need his bat to start complimenting Mike Trout and Pujols if he is going to remain in the third spot of the order.
