Michael Young traded to Dodgers

Michael Young was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Los Angles Dodgers on September 1, 2013. In exchange the Phillies received Rob Rasmussen.

Young is a SS/3B/2B with 14 seasons MLB experience playing with the Phillies and Rangers. Prior to the trade he hit .276/.336/.395 with 8 HR, 42 RBI, 49 R, 1 SB in 126 games with the Phillies. Over his MLB career he has hit .300/.346/.441 with 185 HR, 1028 RBI, 1137 R, 90 SB in 1961 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fifth round in 1997. Young will be 37 on October 19.

LHP Rasmussen split 2013 between and Triple A Albuquerque and Double A Chattanooga prior to the trade. He was 0-7, 6.46 ERA, 37 K, 1.77 WHIP in 54.1 IP over 12 games at Albuquerque and was 3-4, 2.55 ERA, 76 K, 1.08 WHIP in 81.1 IP over 16 games at Chattanooga. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the second round in 2010. Rasmussen turned 24 on April 2nd.
