Pat Venditte was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Philadelphia Phillies on March 12, 2017. The Mariners in exchange received Joey Curletta.
Venditte is a unique pitcher who can throw with either arm and had split 2016 between Triple A Buffalo and the Blue Jays before being traded and split the rest of the season with Triple A Tacoma and the Mariners. He was 2-1, 4.37 ERA, 52 K, 1.49 WHIP, .271 BAA in 35.0 IP over 25 games with 2 GS at Buffalo, 0-0, 5.19 ERA, 7 K, 1.73 WHIP, .297 BAA in 8.2 IP over 8 games with the Blue Jays, 1-0, 1.08 ERA, 11 K, 1.20 WHIP, .233 BAA in 8.1 IP over 5 games at Tacoma and 0-0, 6.08 ERA, 12 K, 1.50 WHIP, .265 BAA in 13.1 IP over 7 games with the Mariners. Over two MLB seasons with the Mariners, Blue Jays and Athletics he was 2-2, 4.97 ERA, 42 K, 1.36 WHIP, .241 BAA in 50.2 IP over 41 games. He was originally drafed by the Yankees in the 20th round in 2008. Venditte will be 32 on June 30.
Curletta is an outfielder who split 2016 between Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga and Double A Tulsa before being traded to the Phillies in September. He hit .267.338/.496 with 13 HR, 54 RBI, 40 R, 0 SB in 77 games at Rancho Cucamonga and .206/.280/.371 with 4 HR, 13 RBI, 7 R, 0 SB in 9 games at Tulsa. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round in 2012. Curletta turned 23 on March 8th.
