Brewer Hicklan of the Alabama Birmingham Blazers (UAB) and Gary Mattis of the Florida Atlantic Owls were selected the Conference USA baseball co-players of the week for the period that spanned March 6, 2017 through March 12, 2017.
Sophomore outfielder Hicklan hit 12 for 20, .600 with 1 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 8 R, 4 SB, 0 BB in 5 games. This season he is hitting 19 for 55, .345/.383/.600 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, 11 R, 5 SB in 15 games. The Blazers are 11-5.
Freshman outfielder Mattis hit 7 for 17, .412 with 1 2B, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 8 R, 1 SB, 3 BB in 5 games. The performance also garnered national attention. That included a 4 for 5, 1 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 2 R performance in a 12-6 victory over Bethune-Cookman. This season he is hitting 25 for 63, .397/.493/.667 with 4 HR, 20 RBI, 20 R,1 SB in 17 games. The Owls are 11-5-1.
