MLB Hall of Fame voting needs overhauled

The voters for the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame failed big time. They were trying to send a message? The message received is that they cannot handle the task. If they wanted boycott the players with clouds over their heads that doesn't excuse their inability to vote a single player in. 

One flaw is that the voting membership has grown too large. It is sometimes hard enough to get three out of four people to agree on where to go for dinner. It is much harder to get seventy five percent of hundreds of people to agree on the merits of a single player. The higher the membership total the higher the number required to vote a player in. But that really doesn't matter because that shouldn't be their mission any more.

The voting membership can vote the way they do and the top ten vote recipients would be put up to the vote of a committee. The committee should be required to allow two or three former players in a year at minimum. The players should be picked on their on field performance period. Big changes need to be made before this is repeated next year.

Jeanmar Gomez traded to Pirates

Jeanmar Gomez was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 9, 2013. In exchange the Pirates received Quincy Latimore. 

RHP Gomez has three seasons MLB experience all with the Indians. He split 2012 between Triple A Columbus and Cleveland and was 6-5 with a 4.41 ERA, 54 K, 1.33 WHIP in 69.1 IP over 11 games in Columbus and was 5-8 with a 5.96 ERA, 47 K, 1.42 WHIP in 90.2 IP over 20 games with Cleveland. For his MLB career he is 14-16 with a 5.18 ERA, 112 K, 1.51 WHIP in 206.2 IP over 42 games. He originally signed with the Indians as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of Venezuela. Gomez will be 25 on February 10.

Latimore is an outfielder who played 2012 with the Pirates Double A team Altoona. He hit .252/.321/.433 with 15 HR, 71 RBI, 52 R, 10 SB in 126 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2007. Latimore will be 24 on February 3rd.

MLB Hall of Fame voters are a joke

Pathetic! Not voting a single person into this years MLB Hall of Fame is ridiculous. The bloated membership of Hall of Fame voters are a joke. The whole system needs to be examined and overhauled. My two cents says the players should be voted based on their on field merit. Not based on shadow conspiracies. It may take some time for my contempt for these so-called baseball insiders to subside.
