Carlos Gonzalez 5 for 5 vs Braves 072913
Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies was 5 for 5 in a 9-8 loss to the Atlanta Braves on July 29, 2013. For the game he was 5 for 5 with 2 RBI, 1 R and 2 SB while playing left field. This season he is now hitting .306/.373/.602 with 26 HR, 69 RBI, 72 R, 21 SB in 99 games. This is his second 5 for 5 performance this season with the first coming on May 15. He also joined the 20/20 club for the fourth season in a row after 34 HR and 26 SB in 2010, 26 HR and 20 SB in 2011 and 22 HR and 20 SB in 2012. For his MLB career he is hitting .300/.358/.531 with 125 HR, 418 RBI, 448 R, 107 SB in 680 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks as an amateur free agent in 2002. Gonzalez will be 28 on October 17.

Deacon White MLB Hall of Fame 2013
Deacon White was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2013 along with Hank O' Day and Jacob Ruppert. White was a 3B\C\OF with 20 seasons MLB experience playing with the Cleveland Forest Citys (1871-1872), Boston Red Stockings (1873-1875, 1877), Chicago White Stockings (1876), Cincinnati Reds (1878-1880), Buffalo Bisons (1881-1885, 1890), Detroit Wolverines (1886-1888) and Pittsburgh Alleghenys (1889). For his MLB career he hit .312/.346/.393 with 24 HR, 988 RBI, 1140 R, 70 SB in 1560 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1873 when he hit .392/.392/.508 with 1 HR, 77 RBI, 79 R, 19 SB in 60 games, 1875 when he hit .367/.372/.453 with 1 HR, 60 RBI, 76 R, 2 SB in 80 games and 1877 when he hit .387/.405/.545 with 2 HR, 49 RBI, 51 R, 0 SB in 59 games.
He was the National Association batting champ in 1875 and the National League batting champ in 1877. He led the National Association in RBI in 1873 and led the NL in RBI in 1876 (60) and 1877. He led the NL in triples in 1877 (11).

Jacob Ruppert MLB Hall of Fame 2013
Jacob Ruppert was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2013 along with Hank O' Day and Deacon White. Ruppert was a U.S. Congressman (1899-1907) and later the owner of the New York Yankees (1915-1939). Ruppert laid the foundation for the Yankees by hiring Miller Huggins as Manager in 1917, purchasing the contract of Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox in 1919 and building Yankee stadium which was completed in 1923. The Yankees won their first seven World Series Championships under Ruppert (1923, 1927, 1928, 1932, 1936, 1937 and 1938).

Hank O' Day MLB Hall of Fame 2013
Hank O' Day was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2013 along with Jacob Ruppert and Deacon White. O'Day was a RHP\OF with seven seasons MLB experience playing with the Toledo Blue Stockings (1884), Pittsburgh Alleghenys (1885), Washington Nationals (1886-1889) and New York Giants (1889-1890). For his MLB career he was 73-110 with a 3.74 ERA, 663 K, 1.35 WHIP, 4 SV, 177 complete games, 5 shut outs in 1651.1 IP over 201 games. For his career he hit .190/.228/.224 with 1 HR, 46 RBI, 76 R, 7 SB in 232 games.

I am continuing to follow Bubba Starling and Fred Ford as they make their way up the minor league ranks of the Kansas City Royals. This is the 17th update for 2013. Both Bubba and Fred are at Class A Lexington in the South Atlantic League. The Legends finished the first half 33-35. They reset their records after the All Star break and the Legends are 22-12 in the second half.
Starling has been on a slight uptick hitting .257 over his last 10 gmes and is now hitting .217/.307/.358 with 9 HR, 44 RBI, 42 R, 15 SB in 93 games.
Ford has spiraled going 4 for 35 over his last 10 games now hitting .203/.301/.367 with 10 HR, 34 RBI, 39 R, 3 SB in 94 games.

Brandon Barnes 5 for 5 and hits for cycle vs Mariners 071913
Brandon Barnes of the Houston Astros was 5 for 5 and hit for the cycle in a 10-7 loss to the Seattle Mariners on July 19, 2013. For the game he was 5 for 5 with a double, triple, home run, two RBI, and three runs while playing center field. He hit his home run in the second, tripled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, doubled in the eighth to complete the cycle and added another single in the ninth. For the season he is hitting .250/.306/.375 with 5 HR, 21 RBI, 27 R, 9 SB in 76 games. For his two season MLB career he has hit .236/.289/.341 with 6 HR, 28 RBI, 35 R, 10 SB in 119 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the sixth round in 2005. Barnes turned 27 on May 15.

Bubba and Fred Update 071413
I am continuing to follow Bubba Starling and Fred Ford as they make their way up the minor league ranks of the Kansas City Royals. This is the 15th update for 2013. Both Bubba and Fred are at Class A Lexington in the South Atlantic League. The Legends finished the first half 33-35. They reset their records after the All Star break and the Legends are 12-9 in the second half.
Starling started to slip again with one hit in his last seven games and is now hitting .213/.301/.353 with 8 HR, 40 RBI, 36 R, 10 SB in 81 games.
Ford has started to struggle too as he is now hitting .215/.322/.384 with 9 HR, 30 RBI, 35 R, 3 SB in 84 games.
Starling started to slip again with one hit in his last seven games and is now hitting .213/.301/.353 with 8 HR, 40 RBI, 36 R, 10 SB in 81 games.
Ford has started to struggle too as he is now hitting .215/.322/.384 with 9 HR, 30 RBI, 35 R, 3 SB in 84 games.
