Future Blips Arizona League 2012

I'm looking at some of the stat leaders in the Arizona League. Currently they aren't even on the Major League radar but if they keep progressing they may be in the show in a few years. 

Paul Hoenecke is a third baseman who played with the Dodgers AZL Rookie team. He led the league in batting average and hit .382/.416/.648 with 5 HR, 38 RBI, 29 R, 2 SB in 41 games. He was promoted to the Rookie team in Odgen and hit .500/.600/1.000 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 3 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 24th round in 2012. Hoenecke turned 22 on July 8th.

Joey Gallo is a third baseman who played with the Rangers AZL Rookie team. He lead the league in home runs and hit .293/.435/.733 with 18 HR, 43 RBI, 44 R, 6 SB in 43 games. He was promoted to the Rangers Class A short season team in Spokane and hit .214/.343/.464 with 4 HR, 9 RBI, 9 R, 0 SB in 16 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers with the 39th pick of the first round in 2012. Gallo will turn 19 on November 19.

Jonathan Reynoso is an outfielder with the Reds AZL Rookie team. He tied for the league lead in steals and hit .311/.328/.411 with 2 HR, 16 RBI, 37 R, 30 SB in 50 games. He originally signed with the Reds as an amateur free agent in 2009 out of the Dominican Republic. Reynoso will be 20 on January 7th.

Tyler Pike is a LHP with the Mariners AZL Rookie team. He led the league in ERA and was 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA, 57 K, 1.09 WHIP in 50.2 IP over 11 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the third round in 2012. Pike will be 19 on January 26.

Alexander Claudio is a LHP with the Rangers AZL Rookie team. He lead the league in WHIP and was 4-0 with a 1.79 ERA, 54 K, 0.90 WHIP in 50.2 IP over 11 games. He was originally drafted by the Rangers in the 27th round in 2010. Claudio will be 21 on January 31.

Miguel Sulbaran is a LHP who pitched with the Dodgers AZL Rookie team. He lead the league in strikeouts and was 6-3 with a 2.51 ERA, 62 K, 1.15 WHIP in 57.1 IP over 11 games. He had started the season with Class A Great Lakes but struggled going 0-1 with a 15.00 ERA, 3 K, 2.83 WHIP in 6.0 IP over 2 games. He finished the season pitching one game with the Dodgers Pioneer League Rookie team in Ogden where he was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA, 4 K, 1.20 WHIP in 5.0 IP. He originally signed with the Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 2011 out of Venezuela. Sulbaran turned 18 on March 19.
